The Journey from Ybor City to St. Pete
Over a century ago, our story began in the vibrant streets of Ybor City, where our founder, Juan Moré, brought his love for Cuban bread to life. Around the start of World War I, Moré joined a co-op of fellow bakers and cigar makers to open three bakeries: La Primera, La Segunda, and La Tercera in Ybor City. When the other two bakeries folded, Juan purchased La Segunda Central Bakery from his partners, which stands today as one of Ybor’s coveted landmark buildings representing the Cuban-American era. From those modest early days, La Segunda Bakery has grown into a beloved establishment, cherished by locals and visitors alike. Now, the same recipes that graced our tables in Ybor City have found their way across the bay to St. Pete.
Our expansion to St. Pete was a natural progression, driven by our desire to share our rich heritage and delectable treats with a wider audience. From the moment we opened our doors in this beautiful city, we've been embraced with open arms and welcomed into the community with warmth and enthusiasm.
